Advancing the color capabilities of its customers' digital
printing and proofing workflows, Imation Corp. (NYSE:IMN) today
announced version 2.0 of its Matchprint(TM) Professional Server
software. Imation Matchprint Professional Server V2.0 software adds
support for the Xerox DocuColor(R) 12 LP (laser printer) and offers
more flexible calibration using an optional scanning
spectrophotometer. In addition, the new version incorporates the image
quality and productivity improvements of V1.2 released in August.
The upgraded Matchprint Professional Server V2.0 software enhances
output flexibility and speed for content creators, prepress and print
professionals. Combining the imaging strength of the DocuColor 12 with
the color management and throughput of the Imation color raster image
processor (RIP), the system produces high-quality comps, proofs and
prints -- consistently and accurately. Simulating Imation's
industry-standard Matchprint color proofing system or their own
ICC-specified color targets, the Matchprint Professional Server and
Xerox DocuColor 12 compliment the versatility and needs of each
customer's workflow. New features for Matchprint Professional Server
software v2.0 include:
More Flexible Calibration: The ability to calibrate the DocuColor
12 printer/copier and DocuColor 12 LP (laser printer), using a fast
and accurate Spectrostar Spectrocam scanning spectrophotometer.
Improved Black Channel Printing: The ability to deliver single
color black printing in text and image areas within color documents.
Grayscale Printing: The ability to deliver black-only printing at
or near rated engine speeds - improving printer productivity.
DCS 2 Support: The ability to print DCS 2 single part files using
hot folders or spoolers, enabling a faster and easier proofing
process.
In July 2001, the Imation Matchprint Professional Server and Xerox
DocuColor 12 printer/copier with the Imation-Xerox co-branded color
laser proofing media was named the first printer/copier and the first
xerographic system to meet the publishing industry's Specifications
for Web Offset Publications (SWOP(R)) certification. The Imation-Xerox
solution now offers new benchmarks for low cost - both for the system
itself and for the proofs it creates - and for fast turnarounds among
SWOP-certified systems.
Recently, the Imation Matchprint Professional Server also received
the prestigious Graphic Arts Technical Foundation GATF InterTech(TM)
Technology Award. The award was one of nine given this year honoring
innovative excellence for advanced technologies in the graphics arts
and stands as a prediction that the recipient technology will have a
major impact on the industry production and profitability.
The Imation Matchprint Professional Server V2.0 software will be
available in the fourth quarter and will be offered as a free upgrade
to existing customers. For more information about the software and
